Ultrasonic thickness testing measures the material thickness by sending and receiving sound through the material. This form of thickness test is extremely useful in determining thickness when calipers or other measuring devices can not be applied to the edge of the material (eg: tanks, vessels or pipe)
Why spend extreme amounts of money replacing or guessing how much material thickness remains. Through Ultrasonic Thickness Testing we have saved our customers hundreds of thousands of dollars by assessing their systems. You never can tell the condition of a system, we have seen equipment look very corroded but have good material thickness and others look great on the outside but are ready to burst. Corrosion investigation is a valuable assessment tool for projecting the service life expectancy of all sorts of piping, pressure vessels, tanks, boiler tubes, cement trucks, etc. We use a combination of visual inspection, pit depth measurements using a pit gauge as well as ultrasonic thickness testing. Our high temperature Ultrasonic probe can obtain thickness readings of in service systems up to 1000º F/540ºC
Ultrasonic Flaw Detection
Ultrasonic Flaw Detection is a volumetric NDT method. Effective in locating sub-surface lamination and internal weld flaws. Ultrasonic Flaw Detection can accurately pinpoint the location and depth of defects so that they can interpreted to code acceptance or marked out for repair.
